Like any construction project, things get delayed. I have many things sitting in draft form waiting to be posted. You'd think I could get them up. For instance, Easter, just past, but my Easter blogpost is sitting on draft. Not that I haven't posted to or haven't been working in other area's of RobinsonK universe. Robinson K Boulevard, Wealthstylebydesign's, Cedar Tree, the extension of my homebased business site, 1313 Mockingbird Lane, my book club blog, and my organization, IFemale, are coming along. I so appreciate all the traffic I am getting on Robinson K Boulevard, In just the short time, I've been back into blogging. Please feel free to email me, with any comments, or leave a comment on any blogpost. I would love the feedback.

As you may have noticed I've lagged in posting this week. Still it seems more and more that there may be a possiblity I may never know grandparenthood. It became even clearer to me when my youngest son, 24, was asked by a friend to babysit. Now my son isn't a stranger to babysitting, he's sat for relatives when he was young, and was always recommended because he was good with kids. He grew up, went away to school, graduated, and has returned home. One of his friends had an emergency, and needed a sitter, and asked him. Some how, all that experience earlier in his life, and today's babysitting, made him come to a revelation, and he declared, I'm not having kids, their too much work. Well with two older sons, not having children, I had pinned my hopes on my youngest, but it seems he has chosen to follow in his bothers footsteps. Of course I feel I'm in a bit of a quandary. Being the only one of four children to have kids. Who's going to carry on the family name. Looks can be deceiving. The sixty degree weather did exactly what I expected it to do. Go as quickly as it came, and replace itself, with low temps and snow. Although I must confess, there was not nearly as much snow as I sarcastically suggested, and the temp did not get as low as I mocked, however, we got both, snow and cold, and the sixty degree weather is nothing but a memory. His movement interrupted my medium columbian, aroma high. I turned to him, and said, 'good morning'. Of course he's moving around as if he had a good work out at the gym; filled with enough energy to fuel a rocket to the moon. So I interjected, as he wisked passed me, "what's the weather like out there?" His eyes light up, as if he has the winning lotto number, "It's 60 degrees!"
I'm thinking, okay, relax, its a ruse. "Really", I replied, in a reserved tone, still thinking. Remember what I said yesterday? It's the calm before the snow storm. Yes, but shouldn't one take full advantage of this calm? I thought. Pull out the springwear, if only for a day. Shed a few layers of cloth, while I can. I took a few sips of java; embracing my cup as I moved toward the window. What a tease, I mumbled, peering out. It's drizzling now. I'm not fooled one bit. But lured by the thought of feeling warmth, on my skin, even a dizzling warmth; I began to squirm like a wanting child. I finally gave in. Oh, cut the crap, and go out and enjoy it. So what if it doesn't last. Yes!!!
....Hey. ...What do you want from me. ....I've got spring fever.

IS IT POSSIBLE SPRING IS IN THE AIR

My son, readying himself to trek to the gym, about six miles from the house, said to me this morning, "mom you should go for a walk", get some exercise. I told him I did that all winter, when I used my brother's, who lives a block and a half from my home, computer, which has more stuff on it, and does a lot more, than mine. My son, interjected, "that was different. It was cold and snowy. Its nice out, and the snow is disappearing". I know this weather, its that tricky time, get you all excited, and then bam, three feet of snow and zero temps, greet you at sunrise. And its for that very reason, knowing there's a good possibility, this warm spell won't last, I decided to take my son up on his advice. I must say. The air does gets you in spring time mode. Now I have spring cleaning on my mine. ...Where's that snow.

While strolling on the boulevard I came upon this place on one of the side streets. And its perfect, and relevant for this post.) I came across a blog, of a young Palestinian woman, who was somewhat agonizing over what she fears is racism embedded in her subconscious, and thinks surfaced upon coming in contact with a black man she needed to pass on the street. Her thoughts reflected back to all the scenes she's been inundated with courtesy of the t.v. networks, and was confused as to whether it has effected her judgement of character, putting race over character. Dr. Martin Luther King said, he had dreamed that his four little children would "one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.

The young woman, received many comments, from several different countries in the world, on the matter. I didn't post a comment, since you have to become a member of the site in order to do so, and the site, and I could be wrong, seemed more geared towards my son's generation. Not that that should have stopped me, but sometimes, two cents from my generations is way to much. It's like the cashier saying, you gave me to too much. Judging from the comments, I feel positive that her peers are on a better track of resolving the race issue, than my generation has been. So I decided to just cut and paste my comment to my own post, for those who may not be as progressive, or like minded, or are as progressive and like mind. I said to her "Don't feel bad, become proactive. Seek to understand the root cause. Truth, will rarely be found on network t.v.. There's a method to the madness of most racism. While, I won't argue that a small percentage might dwell way beneath the surface of our consciousness, most of it is on the epidermis. I'm talking about the clock, that when a young college student, enters the admission's office, to get her paper work in order to prepare to graduate from a four year journey, and collapses, and is pronounced DOA, at the hospital, clock. The clock that dictates when time is up, no matter what you are in the middle of. Without notice, without a snooze button, that lets you live instead of lets you sleep, a little longer. The clock just stops. It was my son's friend that this happened to, today, and, its instances like this, that pull me into the never ending dialogue of "what is this event called life all about". At any given time, I lose that train of thought. And sometimes in a most ungrateful way. Its like taking a loved one for granted. Everyday, when I wake up, and every night I go to bed, not to get spiritual, then again, spiritual is what it is. I don't want to neglect expressing my gratefulness for being. For if or when my biological clock stops ticking, maybe, in the middle of something, I will have said what is most important, I lived.

Update: The young woman, who's name is Marquita Samuels, died of an aneurysm. I'm going to start a blog called Delayed Reaction. There are just too many of them, not only in my life, but in everyone elses that just seems to me need to be logged, timed and dated. We'll call it midnight reaction. Why? Because it usually doesn't occur to you until your entering rem sleep. Right before you see the sand man's wink, it dawns on you. Something was done to you, or you should have done something (fill in the blank) that you didn't do, or you should have done something (fill in the blank) differently than you did, or you shouldn't have done that at all. How about that realization which has you saying, "that was wrong", or maybe you were told something you didn't catch the drift of at the time it was being told to you, and that suddenly hits you. It occurs to you, in that darkness, like the proverbial "I could have had a V8", its comes to you crystal clear. You know the moment when you say, "Oh, that's what that meant, or that's what that was, or now I get it, or better yet, 'what was I thinking?' I can imagine, right about midnight that thought went through Libby's mind. A super colossal delayed reaction. We all have them, don't we? Maybe not as big as Libby's, or maybe even bigger. But no one is exempt from that moment when in the dark silence of night, it hits you, and you say, Damn!

THE BIRDS

Those specks in the tree are not leaves. ...Won't see any of those for a couple of months still. I don't happen to be one of them, but I do try on occasion to sketch things, like the boulevard at the top of my blog. I also, did this sketch of my uncle a few years back. He's been deceased for thirty some years now, but his picture in his army uniform ( death not caused at war) is sitting on one of my mother's tables. Her only sibling. Well, he spoke about six maybe seven different languages, my grandfather spoke maybe nine ten. And they both, acted as interpreters in the wars they served in. Some how, grasping languages didn't trickle down to the next generation, nor the next. Although, I took French, Spanish, German, and Latin, in school. So I have made a pact with one of my son's to diligently learn three maybe four languages. To bring the tradition back. I'll have to post updates of our progress. Wish us luck.

Added note: What I learned from my uncle's, and grandfather's desire to speak, and write several languages fluently, is that they were people person's, and they believed it was important to be able to speak with people in their own language. I endeavor to become that kind of people person. They were global before global became a catch phase. My grandfather, who didn't die at war, but did die (in 1935) from the agent orange he was exposed to when he was at war, and my uncle would have loved the internet. I have no doubt they would have become internet savvy.

<a style="DISPLAY: block; I took exceptional pleasure in seeing Bono receive an award and talk about how, the late Dr. Martin Luther King, and the NAACP had an influence on the perspectives he developed as a youth, during the religious struggles Ireland was having with Britain. And on the choices he has made as an adult. The civil rights movement(s) for equality, and justice, have lead him in the direction he has taken in fighting world hunger, and he is pursuing this with a vengeance. My remedy for this is to indulge to high heaven when its good for me, so that way when its bad for me I'm about ready to lay off of it-a little- anyway. So now chocolate's good for me. It makes me think back to when I was a kid, I was a chocolate addict. And yes, my size was a reflection of it. Athough, being over weight forty years ago wasn't exactly the same as being over weight today. By today's standards, I would have been considered pleasingly plump. Of course now, I also understand how chocolate, and my mother's repeated reference to my being a smarty pants had a direct correlation. See, it's all good.

SPIRIT AND SOUL

I'M LOOKING AT A DIFFERENT KIND OF NIGHT SKY

I'm dreaming. It seems if mother nature wanted to make a mess out of the planet she certainly doesn't need our help. But we are so very incline to give her all the help she wants, the difference is that the earth is mother natures territory, and seems not to harbor any grudges with her, when she goes off, she can be bitchy sometime. Of course, maybe, it has a lot to do with the fact that mother nature knows what she's doing, why she's doing it, and knows when to quit, that is, when she is good and ready- so that earth doesn't express devestating signs of her abuse, just remnents of her tough love. Unlike...well, you know. You hear the arguments everyday. Lets face it, we don't have it like mother nature. And we don't have it right, like mother nature does. Under different circumstances I would say better late than never. However, this is snow, and its more snow than I care to be out in. Its not kind lugging a large garbage tin to the yard in three feet of snow. The shovelling came afterwards. Anyway, it has its aesthetic appeal too, the snow that is, not the lugging of a large garbage tin to the backyard, although it does seen you can make garbage pick up a subject for some forms of art. An interesting subject to delve further into someday. But I digress, the snow is a seasonal presence to be embraced by those of us who complain about it, but won't move south. Its fairly tolerable as long as you aren't getting stuck in it and can view it from a warm place somewhere inside.

WAITING FOR THE STORM

It's no surprise when you wake up and see the many feet of snow, ascending outside the window any given winter morning. Its the anticipation of more snow, maybe a foot, or a few feet that doesn't appear that somehow perplexes you. After all, the weatherman promised it. The weatherman always promises a particular change, or increase, or decrease in the weather before it materializes, and you have this pending status permeating about you, waiting for the presumably inevitable. Well, today was one of those days. A wait and you'll see day, if you will. I expected a storm by now, its late evening, but its hasn't gotten here yet. The weatherman did say, its coming, or its headed, or its moving into the area, that was hours ago. Not that I'm looking forward to being snowed in. I just have expectations, that's all. I suppose this could be the calm before the storm, or maybe its just another weatherman oops!!!

STUDENT OF TRANSPERSONAL PSYCHOLOGY

Transpersonal psychology
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jump to: navigation, search
Psychology

Transpersonal psychology is a school of psychology that studies the transcendent, or spiritual dimensions of humanity. Among these factors we find such issues as self-development, peak experiences, mystical experiences and the possibility of development beyond traditional ego-boundaries. Thus the interest in human experiences which apparently are 'trans-personal,'or 'trans-egoic'. A short definition from the Journal of Transpersonal Psychology suggests that transpersonal psychology is concerned with the study of humanity’s highest potential, and with the recognition, understanding, and realization of unitive, spiritual, and transcendent states of consciousness (Lajoie and Shapiro, 1992:91).

The field is considered by proponents to be the "fourth force"' in the field of psychology, the three other fields being psychoanalysis, behaviorism, and humanistic psychology. According to transpersonal theory, these other schools of psychology have failed to give weight to transpersonal or "transegoic" elements of human existence, such as religious conversion, altered states of consciousness, trance and spirituality, in their academic reflection. Thus, transpersonal psychology strives to combine insights from modern psychology with insights from the world's contemplative traditions, both East and West. The transpersonal and spiritual dimensions of the psyche have traditionally not been a focus of interest for Western psychology, which has mainly focused on the prepersonal and personal aspects of the human psyche (Cowley & Derezotes, 1994; Miller, 1998). See Wikipedia

QUIET DAYS WITH TINNITUS

About Tinnitus

According to ATA "TINNITUS ti-NIGHT-us or TIN-i-tus: is the perception of sound in the ears or head where no external source is present. Both pronunciations are correct; the American Tinnitus Association uses ti-NIGHT-us. The word comes from Latin and means "to tinkle or to ring like a bell."

In almost all cases, tinnitus is a subjective noise, meaning that only the person who has tinnitus can hear it. Someone with tinnitus often describes it as "ringing in the ears," but people report hearing all kinds of sounds: crickets, whooshing, pulsing, ocean waves, buzzing, even music.

Many people will experience it temporarily or intermittently. Most of the people we help here at the American Tinnitus Association experience this "ringing in the ears" 24 hours a day, seven days a week. About Tinnitus

It is said that this ringing, is due to damage of the eardrum, one possible caused, loud noise.

I thought I'd make up a little poem, for this little demon.
MY CLOSEST FRIEND
The closest friend I have today, is ringing
in my ear. Always there through thick and
thin, and makes me well aware.
On and On it talks to me, even when I sleep.
I can't imagine what it's like to doze
without a peep. Silence is no option, hiding
is no where, the only choice there is
for now, is tolerance to bare.

THERE'S NEVER SNOW ON THE BOULEVARD

This is a snow leopard in Buffalo
<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5030299843492303442" style="DISPLAY: block; She's going into the second half of her life, and is not very satisfied. She told me she had a lot of things she had not accomplished, and was now wondering if it was too late. Things like what, I asked. And she said, she always wanted a graduate degree, maybe two, and to be a published author. I told her its never to late. She had time, if she was serious it could still be achieved. She said she didn't feel she had the courage. I told her as a friend, I would be her cheerleader. So once a week I will be posting an update of Miki's progress, until her goals have been accomplished. She's given me the incentive to do some of the things I have been putting off doing. Learning five languages. Starting a nonprofit organization. Thanks Miki.

LILLIES ARE MY FAVORITE FLOWERS

<category scheme='http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#' term='BLOG.
